Value for Trade-Turkish Targeted Reach $ 3 Billion

The value of trade between Indonesia and Turkey that are targeted to reach $ 3 billion in 2011 from the current value of the newly reached USD1, 8 billion.

"Turkey wants our trade relations with them, two years from now if I could reach $ 3 billion from the current $ 1, 8 billion," said Chairman of the Permanent Committee of the Middle East Partnership, OIC, and Europe Fachri Thaib in Jakarta on Monday (8/3/2010 ).

But these targets, he said, would be difficult to achieve if the problem of dumping cases could not complete in the near future.

"The Indonesian government should be wise in dealing with this problem. If not, let alone $ 3 billion in 2011, $ 1, 8 billion would not be achieved. But if in one year is over, then, in 2011 there will be recovery of our trade with Turkey, "he explained.

Although dumping problems still exist, but Turkey, according to Fachri, still see Indonesia as a big prospect for the trade.

"At that time, the delegation they came, now, they see NAFED (National Export Development Agency), so this is a good sign, but dumping cases must be resolved, do not become barriers to trade," he stated.

Meanwhile, related to the possibility of Turkish direct investments in Indonesia, according to Fachri, in the near future is not yet there.

"They're investing a lot into Indonesia through intermediaries, such as through stock Temastek. If you want to invest, they chose to cooperate with domestic industry, for example, they become contributors to the funds or the quality control for goods to be exported to Turkey, "he explained.
